Body human and not human

Presentation

Experience the way of improvisation. Create an atmosphere forwarding the capacity of a global, sharp and collective concentration. Approach one’s own, environing bodies, space and time as an environment. Use installations to make those environments more concrete. Develop sensations, detach and strengthen them comparing to the original surrounding world.
Start the new creation of cie. Mamacallas that will deepen the research of the previous creations Figures in a Landscape and EXTRACTION.

Dance on horizontal axis

From the performance EXTRACTION

Presentation
From the reality given by our bodies we will create a universe of unusual sensations, a universe of ever-changing bodies that experience the aquatic or prenatal life.
This kind of work develops a big assurance and faith in the physicality, its force for the presence and expressivity.
This universe in continuous and full, its choreography stays deeply connected with instantaneous of improvisation which allows us to reach a deep state of concentration and forget ourselves/the rational planning.

More about the workshop
Based on the materials and types of concentrations explored in EXTRACTION the participants will develop a relationship of immersion into their own body, into the bodies as well as the space surrounding them. Those relations will create a coherent universe where the choreography is a process more than a program.

The first phase of the work will focus on the physical research based on liquids, unstable materials and sensorial variations. The aim is to understand the immersion as a fundamental condition for being able to open to the word: immersion into one owns body (body-environment or body –cosmos where micro and macro elements interlace with each other), immersion into the space of the body that is always full (ground surface, body of the other, small and large masses filling the space). This dimension calls for an imagery associated to aquatic organisms and prenatal period. It allows exploring the relation of the body and its mass, its volume and its relation with the ground. Multiple ways of erecting from the floor will appear.

The second phase will shift the focus to the duration and sonic universe as well as to the relation with the space of the stage. The theme of fullness deepens further into the theme of continuity and simultaneity. The space of the stage is approached as a continuous space where variations and transformations are generated by folding and sliding surfaces. The time evolves as continuous and is modulated by varying the intensity more then accentuated or given by tempi. The participation of Skupina© accompanies and supports this approach which allows an absolute simultaneity between movements and sound.
